**This is a guest article about how to gain the Audix Voicemail System that is popularly used today. Unlike you, this person got off his ass and earned some $$ writing about what he loves. He has accomplished something with his life, he has written for MrCracker.com . What have you done? Click Here to start.**

So as many of you know cell phone voicemails are incredibly insecure. Now for reconnaisance thisisn’t useful when you are gathering information on big companies. Mostly due to the fact that employeecell phones are often private. When doing reconnaisance you should always be aware of the information youhave already found, and how it can be used. Thats where an employee directory comes in handy. Many top businessess use the Audix voicemail system so knowledge of the system is invaluable. Now every Audix system hassomething called a system number which is what you will call to access your voicemail remotely. The only thing you will need to access someones voicemail is their extension, and the password they chose for their voicemail.Just like in any other situation we will try basic passwords ( remember a password can be between 4-15 digits). The most common passwords used are 1234,12345,123456,birthdays,anniversaries, and the extension itself.

Now finding system numbers may seem difficult, and it is. There are ways around that pesky number though. We will start with the easiest; finding publicized numbers. So many schools/businessess publish their audix systeminstructions for their employees. These files tend to contain data such as system numbers, extensions, and default passwords. Now these could be difficult to find by random searching, but you’re in luck. I have created a google dork which hasvery good results “inurl:audix system instructions”, and useful but not as effective “intitle: audix setup instruction”.

We have covered how to use the audix system, and how to find publicized audix systems, but say thecompany you are gathering information on has not publicized their Audix system number. Now how exactly couldyou get this number? Well there is a number of ways the easiest, and if done properly most successful is tosimply social engineer it. People forget these numbers constantly so find an employee’s name ( for maximum success choosesomeone who isn’t ranked very high.) You will need the help desk number to which is easily found, it is normally the contact number. What you say is up to you, but remember your goal is to gain the system number; so your best bet is to saysomething like you’ve never had to access your voicemail outside the office, and you’re unsure of which number to call.

If the social engineer methods fail there is one more that is hit and miss. Sometimes improperly configuredAudix systems will allow you to access the system directly as if you were calling the number. Now the easiestway to do this is to call as many numbers as you can after hours, so no one answers, and try hitting 0,# or *. Now what you are lookingfor is something about the Audix system, and if it works you will hear a message about dialing to another extension. That is when youchoose the correct number, and try different extensions, and passwords.”"

This brings to mind the possibility of obtaining iPhone bundles from other networks, particularly from Verizon since it is currently the leading mobile service network provider in North America due to its cheaper rates and very good customer service. Right now, people can buy iPhones from many dealers but the only way to get Internet connectivity is through AT&T. This is because the gadget has been designed with AT&T in mind. Because of this, the current models may not be technically compatible with Verizon. For instance, iPhone runs on GSM (Global Systems Mobile) technology while Verizon uses CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) or the “spread spectrum” technology. CDMA is a newer technology that allows Verizon subscribers to occupy the same time and frequency allocations in a given band or space, resulting to better voice and data communications, and the low costs. iPhone has to be tweaked so that it becomes compatible with CDMA.

Take heart Verizon customers because there are reports going around that Apple and Verizon are negotiating for a deal involving the offering of iPhone on the network. AT&T won’t like it but, hey, this is the capitalist world. AT&T can’t have it all for all time. The USA Today reported that the deal may start in 2010, which incidentally is the year when AT&T’s exclusive contract ends. This means consumers should just wait a little while for the Verizon-Apple deal to get through in order to get their hopefully cheaper iPhones.

Now, for those who are tech-savvy, here’s something you can do to enable your iPhone to work with Verizon’s network. In case you didn’t know yet, every iPhone in the U.S. is locked with AT&T due to their existing exclusivity contract. You’ll need to unlock the iPhone using unlocking software available in the market today. When you’ve picked one that suits you well, take a look at this tutorial in order to unlock your iPhone:

Part 1 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm_4z3fdO-Q

Part 2 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yTPCjFstpQ&feature=related

After successfully unlocking the iPhone, you’ll need a Verizon Vodaphone Sim card — the same one used for Blackberry 8830. Once you have the SIM, you’ll be able to make your iPhone work with Verizon. How is this possible? Because Vodaphone, a co-owner of Verizon, is licensed to sell iPhone in Europe. Just take note that it is unauthorized to unlock your iPhone in North America. If you do, you lose the warranty and waive your right for free downloads and upgrades. There is also feedback that some features might not work when you use the iPhone with another network, like the ability to use visual voice mail. This is probably because only AT&T offers the service.

Unlock iPhone Software“”

We sometimes find ourselves doing things automatically only to find out later that what we have done is a mistake! At the very least, this is an inconvenience. This could apply to almost anything, especially when a person is multi-tasking. An instance where this could happen is when you’re talking to someone while checking your Blackberry for messages. If you’re deleting a previous message, you could accidentally do the same to a new one thinking that it is old. It wouldn’t matter if the email or text is unimportant. But what if it is a message from your boss or business associate? What will you do? Can you recover the message from somewhere just like in Yahoo or Google mail?

The big and sad answer is that no, the message is forever lost if your phone has not been set up to store deleted messages in a designated location. That means, once these messages are purged from your smart phone and you have not been able to setup some sort of a backup plan, it will be very unlikely that you could recover them or even from the network provider.

Before giving it up as a lost cause, here are some steps you can take in order to check whether or not the deleted message has any chance of being retrieved:

Step 1:

If any important message is deleted, determine first if it is an SMS text message or email.

Step 2:

If it’s an email message, try to check with your email service or company’s systems administrator the settings of your email account. You’ll know from the administrator whether there is a server in place that hold emails for a period of time before deleting them. You’re lucky if this is the case because you can retrieve the mail from the main server.

If it’s an SMS, try to check if you can find it in other folders. Use the Blackberry’s search function.

Step 3:

A simpler method is to ask the person who sent the message to resend it. This is only applicable if you noted who the message or mail is from.

Step 4:

Regardless of whether or not the deleted message can be retrieved, it is important to set-up a system that backs up all of your messages stored in the Blackberry device.

The procedures for updating your Blackberry device can also be used to actually do a full back up of your messages to your own PC. This can be periodically done with the aid of your Blackberry Desktop Software.

Details of the software can be found from this link (http://blogs.blackberry.com/2009/09/blackberry-desktop-software-a-closer-look-at-the-mac-os-version.html). It works by creating a backup file of your device while allowing you to specify what type of information to store.

If you want a web-based backup system, one of those I would recommend is Dexrex, a free, secure online archive database tool built for consumer and business textual data management service to facilitate or aid in storing your Instant Messages and mobile text message conversations so you always have a backup. It supports the most common variety of Instant Messaging networks like AOL, Windows live, ICQ, Jabber, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Google talk and Blackberry. With Dexrex, you can archive all of your IMs for later use. With this tool, you’ll need to lose another message ever again!

How do I use Dexrex to archive my Blackberry messages? You only need to download its blackberry extension from (https://www.dexrex.com/mobile/blackberry). Open the application and go through the setup process. If you meet any problems in installing and using the system, you can send your queries to contact@dexrex.com.”"

Technological innovations over the past few years have reached new heights. Although no technological breakthroughs have come to make the market go ga-ga over them, there are some developments that could qualify as highly innovative. In the past, cellphones have been used to provide people on the go with a communication device that could keep them connected to their associates even while traveling. Changing market needs turned the cellphone into a device not only for voice communication. It allowed people to send short messages no matter where they are in the world. Over time, the world became flat, as thoroughly described by Thomas Friedman in a book. This means distance is only a physical thing.

The cellphone now has become more than a device for communication. With the birth of graphical user interface, the need for remote access grew. From using the telnet protocol, it extended into the wireless communication industry. The cellphone develops into a remote control, or an access terminal, for personal computers. It was inevitable for innovators to come up with this technology considering how cellphones have become essential items for millions of people. It was just a matter of time. Now, through the use of specialized software, cellphones can now be used to control the personal computer from a remote distance. A student who forgets to print his assignment can just use his phone to access his PC from school, and voila! the day is saved. The same is true for people who have to make presentations and have somehow lost their files. Using their phones can give them access to the original document stored in a PC somewhere.

Gotomypc is the most common application software that allows for remote control of a computer. Before installing the software, it is necessary to purchase it from the vendor. From there, the buyer will get access codes to be able to install the software. Gotomypc runs using Java technology, which displays the Gotomypc icon on your phone. The software works through the thin client technology, a type of computer architecture that only provides user interface without the hardware devices common in other systems. It also utilizes FTP and SSH communication to be able to actually download and upload files as well as some security measures.

An important consideration that buyers may have is on hacking. Will hackers be able to get to your phone without you knowing about it? Remote access software have some vulnerabilities but are well known to be generally secured since no publicized cases are known about malicious attacks on a phone’s remote access software. Two things could be deduced from this, either the software is created very securely or, hackers are still trying to figure out how to get around them. Wireless handheld devices, like smartphones and its network, however, are found to be more vulnerable than its software. In other words, it’s not the software but the phone itself, which is more vulnerable to attacks. For instance, there have been reports of a text message that enables a hacker to access and control others’ phones. Other vulnerabilities can come from downloading applications to your phone using Gotomypc. Just like the desktop computer, the phone could get viruses and other malwares through this activity. Moreover, leaving the phone’s bluetooth or infrared open can also cause others to access the phone without the owner’s knowledge. This is also true when you save sessions or store passwords. And, of course, once the phone is lost or stolen, remote access software should be uninstalled right away.

Here are some software picks for your smartphones:

Blackberry

Use the PCMobilizr. It’s relatively new but users find that its features are great. A little pricey but very efficient. If you want a 30-day trial go to its website and sign up for the free version.

iPhone

Telekinesis enables remote access to your Mac from your iPhones. Among the things it can do are screen capturing, Home directory browsing and even running AppleScripts. This is currently on its infancy stage, so, expect for some glitches. But if your operating system is not Mac, you’ll need the TightVNC that comes with fully functional zooming and panning features.

Palm Pre & Treo 600
